It's practically Christmas week for endurance athletes, triathletes, Ironman finishers, those who have attempted an iron distance race, and fans of the sport of triathlon as the days quickly lead up to the Ironman World Championship race in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii (more casually known as Kona). The big day is this Saturday, October 9th, 2010. While our lack of budget :) unfortunately prevents us from covering the Ironman World Championship event and expo live from Kona, EnduraMoms will do our best to follow all the action from Raleigh, NC and put a spotlight on the EnduraMoms competing in this year's main event. There are a lot of amazing stories to uncover in the land of Ironman and we intend to find out what drives the Moms out there to not only cover 140.6 miles in a single day, but, what helped them to make it to and through Kona. We also want to know HOW they do it! It takes a special woman (and no I don't do the Danielle Staub pronunciation) to juggle motherhood and endurance sport training. I for one believe that extra special honors should be in store for those who make it happen. Behold the Enduramom. Maybe your distance is a 5K or 70.3...or the big 140.6...these are all worthy distances which take time, effort, and training. We can all benefit by sharing our experiences.
If you know of an agegrouper or elite EnduraMom making the epic trek to Kona this year, please let us know!
We've been on a bit of a hiatus during what can only be described as an "awful" September, but, as of this posting, the blog is back!
The Enduramoms.com website unveiling, aka phase 1, is in motion with an initial launch this weekend, so that we can all connect and chat about what drives us to compete, train, swim, bike, and run.
Have a great Monday! Only 5 days until "Christmas"! Oh and there's the underwear run... But that's another post... Hee hee
